Please note upon completion of your adoption application you will be required to submit a $20 tax deductible, non-refundable, processing fee. This fee helps offset the hours volunteers put into each application. References are checked, vet records reviewed, and a home visit is conducted to ensure all of our Danes have a safe and loving place to call home. Once you are approved as an adopter we will schedule a meet and greet with any available Danes that you are interested in. If we do not currently have the perfect match for both the Dane and your family we keep your approved application on file until the right fit comes along.
At this time applications are only being accepted for the South Florida tri-county areas: Palm Beach County, Broward County, and Miami-Dade County.
Every applicant agrees to a (1) month and (3) month home visit after adoption. This application fee is not a guarantee of placement with a Great Dane. If the application is approved, a home study will be conducted, and Gentle Giants GDR will make every attempt to match you with the perfect Great Dane for your family. If there are no Great Danes available at the time of your application approval, you will be placed on a waiting list. The current adoption fees are as follows: ages 0 – 2 years old: $500; 2 – 5 years old: $350; 5+ years old: $250. All Great Danes that come into Gentle Giants Great Dane Rescue go through extensive health checks including but not limited to, blood work, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm preventative medication, dental. All adoption fees go directly to the rescue and help reimburse the rescue for the health checks as well as surgical procedures such as neutering, spaying, gastropexy, and everyday necessities such as food, harnesses, toys, and treats.
